Cancer genomics, bioinformatics modeling
Tumor recurrence is a major issue for many cancer types, such as glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patients after receiving Temador treatments. However, the related molecular biology is not easy to be understood. It is because of the complexity of transcriptional events, which may be a mixture of epigenetic regulation and genetic control on function regions (e.g., enhancers and promoters). Recurrence or drug resistance is stage-specific. My research interest is in the patient-specific analysis by considering the variations from transcriptional, epigentic, and genetic variations. By applying to different stages of a patient, the failure of treatment can be explained by the identified comprehensive mechanisms, such as the regulation of a methylation on a new gene isoform or a function lost caused by a mutation in the CDS. The identified epigenetic regulation and genetic variation will be validated by CRISPR and TALE-TET1 genome editing techniques.
